OUR STORY
Our story begins in 1983 when my future husband brought me to the 1000 Islands for some spring fishing. It was snowing, sleeting and simply miserable out but I fell in love with the area, and him! We married within six months of dating and on our honeymoon at DeWolf Point State Park, he promised me that one day we could live and work in the beautiful 1000 Islands. In 1995 we sold our successful Aquarium Shop, The Aquarium Doctor, located in Luzerne, PA and enbarked on quite the adventure! We decided to put aquariums on display along with interesting displays of fish related items and offer a new attraction for the region. After our initial location choice became unavailable, we were ready to pack it up and move on. It was then that we met 'Critter' Williams, through his brother Bob. Both felt the idea of opening a family attraction was to good to let go so they introduced us to John Kring, and as they say the rest is history. John leased us space in this building and upon his death in 1998 we were able to purchase the property in 2000. We opened the only family owned and operated Public Aquarium in the US in 1996 and continued to operate it until 2015, growing and updating with each passing season. After a life changing cancer diagnosis we decided to completely redo the AquaZoo and turn it into a restaurant. In June of 2016 with the work complete, we opened our doors as Fins Eatery and Pub.
